# How we rank robot lawn mowers

A plain-English summary of where our ratings come from and what they do not claim to be.

Robot Lawn Mower Compare is a research-based comparison site, not a hands-on testing lab. Every rating and ranking on this site is built from manufacturer specifications, official product documentation, and publicly available owner reviews aggregated across major retailers, forums, and long-term reports.

We do not personally mow lawns with each model. Where reality diverges from a spec sheet — for example, when owners consistently report shorter coverage or weaker slope grip than the brand claims — we adjust our category recommendations to reflect what real owners report, not what the brochure promises.

We earn an affiliate commission when readers buy through our Amazon links, at no extra cost to you. Those commissions never influence rankings: a model that wins because it is the right pick wins regardless of how many clicks it sends to Amazon. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored "best of" slots, or manufacturer-written copy.

When a model's owner feedback shifts meaningfully, or a new firmware or hardware revision changes the picture, we update the relevant review and category pages and note what changed.
